Katrina Vandiver is a proud native New Yorker, born in White Plains and raised in Co-op City. With over thirty years of dedication to education and community service, she has built a career grounded in compassion, resilience, and transformative impact. Katrina earned her bachelor’s degree in Biology and Health Education from Lehman College, followed by a master’s degree in Multicultural Education from The College of Mount Saint Vincent. Her career in education began 31 years ago with the New York City Department of Education. She later continued her journey in Duval County, Jacksonville, Florida, where she taught at the elementary level and also served as a professor of Education at Jones College. Her commitment to uplift and guide others extended into the correctional system, where she worked as a Men’s Transition Counselor for parolees in Baker County and taught general education to incarcerated individuals through the Unlimited Path Program. Since 1994, Katrina has continued to inspire students within the New York City Department of Education. She currently teaches Health and Physical Education at Thurgood Marshall Academy for Social Change in Harlem, where she empowers youth with the tools to thrive physically, mentally, and socially. A fierce advocate for perseverance, Katrina proudly celebrates 23 years as a Breast Cancer survivor—a testament to her strength and unwavering spirit. She remains deeply passionate about giving back and pouring into the lives of young people, believing that education and empathy can reshape futures and spark lifelong transformation.
