MEET DIANE J. ANDERSON President
MY WHY?
I didn’t wake up one day and decide to start a nonprofit. It grew in me slowly, the way truth often does—quietly at first, then so loudly I couldn’t ignore it. For years, I watched our youth drift through life carrying pain they didn’t have language for. I saw the confusion in their eyes, the loneliness in their posture, the hunger for belonging that reminded me of a childhood where community was everything—where neighbors were family, and love was abundant. But somewhere along the way, that sense of unity faded for them. And I couldn’t shake the feeling that if someone didn’t step in, we would lose an entire generation to silence and struggle. At the same time, another truth was tugging at me—one that lived much closer to home. My father served in the Korean War, and although he came back physically, parts of him never returned. I grew up watching the invisible wounds of service turn into silence, then into coping, then into alcoholism. My siblings served too, each carrying their own quiet battles. As a child, I didn’t have the tools to help my dad heal. I only had questions, confusion, and a front-row seat to the kind of pain that hides behind strength. But as an adult, I realized something powerful: What broke me as a child could become my purpose as a woman.
The idea for Meet Me At The Crossroads didn’t come from a business plan—it came from a calling. A deep conviction that both our youth and our veterans were standing at intersections in their lives, needing someone to meet them there with compassion, guidance, and hope. I knew this work mattered because I had lived the consequences of what happens when support isn’t there. I knew it would work because I understood both sides of the story—the child who needed help and the veteran who didn’t know how to ask for it. And I realized that very few organizations were bridging those worlds, honoring both the next generation and the ones who sacrificed for it.
What excited me most was the possibility of transformation.
Of turning pain into purpose.
Of turning silence into healing.
Of turning isolation into community.
Meet Me At The Crossroads was born from that vision—a place where youth find direction, veterans find understanding, and everyone who walks through our doors finds a sense of belonging. This isn’t just a business to me. It’s my way of honoring my family’s journey, rewriting the narrative for others, and becoming the support I once wished existed.
It’s not just worthwhile.
It’s necessary.
And it’s sacred.
