Diane Johnston-Anderson is a mental health professional passionate about providing evidence-based trauma-informed counseling services and empowerment workshops to youth and Veterans. She considers herself a lifelong learner and continually strives to increase her professional knowledge and skills and to apply them in practice. Mrs. Anderson is a seasoned professional with over 30 years of experience in direct services.

Mrs. Anderson is expanding her expertise by earning an MSW specializing in mental health conditions and therapeutic interventions. She is also a member of the NASW in good standing and the Alpha Chi National College Honor Society. She also holds additional certificates in Mental Health First Aid for Youth and Adults, Motivational Interviewing, Case Management, Life Coach, Therapeutic Art Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Adolescent Engagement, Relationship Counseling, and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Her methodologies include Stress Inoculation Training (SIT) with emphasis on CBT, a form of talk therapy combining the basic principles from behavioral and cognitive psychology. Mrs. Anderson ascribes to the cognition theory that people’s behaviors reflect their thoughts and feelings about themselves and their environment.

Mrs. Anderson’s organization, Meet Me At The Crossroads, adheres to the ecological systems theory, a holistic approach that assesses how individuals affect and are affected by external factors such as physical, social, political, and cultural systems. She believes in treating the entire person instead of focusing solely on the diagnosis or presenting symptoms. Understanding the family’s role in the therapeutic process, Mrs. Anderson is committed to create a balanced alliance with key players to address intra and extrafamilial issues.

Mrs. Anderson is more than just a mental health professional, she is a leader, educator, published author, ordained minister, New York State Chaplain, and a Certified Recovery Peer Advocate (CRPA). She is a strong advocate for youth and Veterans on the micro, mezzo, and macro levels. Mrs. Anderson’s practice is committed to honoring diversity and understanding the multifaceted makeup of each individual.

Mrs. Anderson’s ultimate goal is to promote educational and economic equity and social justice for marginalized people by empowering every individual she works with to take charge of their destiny and live life with purpose, peace, and joy. She is dedicated to providing the tools and encouragement necessary for each person to achieve their self-identified goals. Mrs. Anderson is here to meet individuals along the Stages of Change model and guide and support the self-efficacy of each individual. Her unwavering commitment to empowerment is a testament to her belief in the potential that lies within each person to shape their own destiny and lead a life defined by their own version of success. She believes everyone can change when given the proper support and resources.
